Calling all Homeowners in the University District Neighborhood : we want to hear from YOU! Please take a moment to fill out our homeowner survey if you have not yet done so. We appreciate your feedback, as it informs our Neighborhood Ambassador Program of the quality of life issues that affect you the most. UM News video story on Sunday Sweepers

The Neighborhood Ambassadors were featured on yet another video story by a journalism student enrolled in the UM News course! This one focused on the Sunday Sweepers clean up events and featured ambassador Jessica Ferretti and UM student group, the African Student Association (ASA), who participated in last Sunday's clean up. The video turned out great! Click HERE to watch.

More Sunday Sweepers!

A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL PARTICIPATING ASUM STUDENT GROUPS: the Native American Law Students Association, ADSUM, the African Student Association, and Men's Ultimate Frisbee.

You all made our first Sunday Sweeper a great success!

Watch this video feature on our program!

A UM  Journalism student enrolled in the UMNews course used the Neighborhood Ambassador Program as one of her video assignment topics. Student ambassador, Paul Summerlin, agreed to let her shadow him while he went door to door last week so that she could get some on-site footage for the piece. With interviews from homeowners, student renters, and Paul, the finished product is a great illustration of our program.

Sunday Sweepers... One down, two to go!

Neighborhood Ambassadors along with several ASUM student groups, including: the Native American Law Students Association, the Alliance for Disability and Students of the University of Montana (ADSUM), the African Student Association, and Men's Ultimate Frisbee, hit the University district with their rubber gloves, trash bags, and rakes today!  We divided into 5 areas to clean up trash and rake yards.

After spending about an hour picking trash east of Arthur from Beckwith Ave. to Beverly Ave., students from the Native American Law Students Association raked some yards.

Keep and eye out for us after the next two home Griz games!

Meet an Ambassador: Nathan Klette

Nathan is a senior at the University of Montana, majoring in Health and Human Performance focusing in Community Health.  He is a lifelong resident of Missoula, growing up in the Upper Rattlesnake. He loves the outdoors.  On most weekends you can find Nathan outside on a basketball court, hiking in the beautiful backcountry, hanging out with friends or nose-deep studying in the library.

When asked to name his favorite thing about Missoula, Nathan could't choose just one.  He listed a number of Missoula favorites including:
  • The fact that Missoula is an eclectic mix of ranchers, cowboys, hippies, yuppies, students, artists, athletes and recreationalists,
  • Meals from Front Street Pasta & Wraps, Taco Del Sol, Biga Pizza and Sushi Hana,
  • Desserts from Big Dipper,
  • Drinks from Kettlehouse, Tamarack, James Bar and Uptown Diner,
  • Views from the M, Stuart Peak and Missoula Valley,
  • Recreational activities in the Clark Fork River and Rattlesnake Recreation Area,
  • Grizzly athletics, the Kim Williams Trail, Worden’s, Brennan’s Wave and the Missoulian.

New Neighborhood Map

We have reworked the Neighborhood Ambassador areas just a bit.  The map above outlines the new neighborhoods.

Have you met your ambassador?

Your Neighborhood Ambassadors (from left to right): Alex Clark, Erin Joronen, Jacob Hellyer, Nathan Klette, Paul Summerlin, and Stephanie Parker (not pictured: Jessica Ferretti)

Neighborhood Ambassadors have started getting out into the University District to meet our neighbors!  If we haven't hit your house yet, don't worry, we will.  We will continue getting out and introducing ourselves over the next couple of weeks.

In the mean time, get ready for our upcoming newsletter, and Sunday Sweepers!  Sunday Sweepers is an event the Neighborhood Ambassadors are working on organizing.  It will take place Sunday, October 14th, in the University District.  We will be recruiting student groups and students from UM to help clean up trash in the neighborhood after the next home Griz game.
